While the Kenya presidential results announcement might have elicited different reactions among Kenyans even resulting to violence, some parts of the country particularly Machakos County is calm.
In Tala market, businesses have been operational as usual considering that most of the people of this constituency are purported to have greatly voted for the opposition (NASA).
Well, leaders have come out to urge the country and specially NASA supporters who have been expressing displeasure over the presidential results to maintain peace.
Speaking during a thanksgiving holy mass at St Mary's Catholic Church in Tala, the Matungulu constituency Member of Parliament (MP) elect Stephen Mule made a frantic call for peace during this period and after.
“My fellow Kenyans, maintain peace and accept the outcome of the elections. I know it is bitter to some while others are celebrating in joy but let's swallow our pride, accept and move forward,” he said.
Mule also thanked the people of Tala for his re-election as the Matungulu Constituency MP under a Wiper movement ticket.
Impressively, the residents of Tala have also embraced the outcome without savagery terming the actions of the violent regions unnecessary.
“We should not fight just because the person we supported has lost. I and my family voted Raila for presidency but when we watched his political rival Uhuru Kenyatta being declared winner we were disappointed but we did not indulge in vicious actions, or have you heard Kamba people fighting or destructively protesting because of that?" said Mary Kaloki, a business woman in Tala.
Katii Musembi, a boda boda rider also expressed his concern over the allegedly unexpected results but he however dissociated himself from violence saying that it was not going to solve the issue at hand.
