Matungulu Member of national assembly Stephen Mutinda Mule has officially kicked off an electricity connectivity project at Utooni village in Matungulu West ward.The first Phase of the project is targeted at benefiting approximately 2000 households resulting in electricity access to an additional 1000 residents within the area.According to Mule, the project is financed by the County Government of Machakos at the cost of Sh 13.5 Million and the phase will involve extension of the low voltage network to reach households located within 600 meters of a transformer.''My people of Utooni village in matungulu West ward have not been left behind for they will all now be connected with Electricity under the last mile connectivity program, from the National Government kitty. More also, water issues has been addressed for the borehole drilled by the NGCDF kitty has also been captured in the program. Long live Matungulu, said Mule.The second and third phases of the project will include the installation of new transformers and extension of low voltage network with the aim of reaching an additional 5000 customers thereby adding 2500 residents to the power grid.Selection of distribution of the transformers for the Last Mile project is based on Government Constituency Development Fund criteria for resource allocation.
