Residents of Nguluni location in Matungulu Sub-County have lamented over rising attacks by unknown bandits who have been terrorizing them during the evening and condemned police officers for reportedly not making any arrests.
The residents on Monday morning complained that over the last two weeks bandits have been attacking people as they walk home from their businesses and despite stealing from them they also stub and use sharp objects leaving the victims for dead.
The latest attack was on Monday night where a 30-year-old who runs a small hardware in Nguluni town was reportedly attacked as he was walking to his home a few minutes past 8pm.
Narrating the incident from his hospital bed in Kangundo District Hospital, David Muema stated how he was attacked and dragged to a thicket where no one would save him.
“I was walking home after I closed my hardware when someone hit me on the head with a blunt object. I fell down only to discover they were several men. When I tried escaping one hit me on the leg with a metal, took my wallet and phone and stubbed me with a knife,” said Muema.
He stated that he regained consciousness at around 4am and found himself in a bush. He was later rescued by his brothers after he dragged himself to a path and sent a child to his home which was not far from where he was.
According to Muema he is not the first victim to be attacked but the fifth among a series of heightened insecurity.
The residents have called upon the police officers to launch night operations and hunt the bandits down so that security can be attained.
