Mrs. Salome Ndawa, the Member of County Assembly in Matungulu West on Wednesday urged all Machakos parents to ensure that they see off their children as they walk to school especially those who have to cross rivers or seasonal streams on their way to school.
Speaking during a Maendeleo ya Wanawake meeting in Machakos town, Salome said that it is dangerous for the children to be allowed to cross rivers on their own during this heavy rains season because rivers unexpectedly swell exposing the children to the risk of drowning.
"Let us not as parents be ignorant to our children's safety but instead protect them because we have already witnessed several deaths of people getting carried away by rain waters," said Salome.
She also added that she will continue to support Dr. Mutua's governance so that Matungulu residence may benefit from the set aside funds for floods emergencies.
