Police officers in Matungulu together with the area OCPD Joseph Cheshire and James Njiiri, the Tala region OCS are on man hunt for a suspect who has been reported by several Matungulu residents for allegedly growing and selling bhang.
Mr. Cheshire and Mr. Njiiri in the company of several police officers went to the suspect's homestead on Tuesday afternoon in Katine village. After searching the homestead, the police found more than 200 bhang plants in the man's shamba and several others planted in flower vases which he keeps beside his door step and around his house. The police also found a pair of Kenya Police uniform in the man's house.
The suspect's grand mother who lives in the same compound as the suspect said that she had no idea that those were bhang plants and she sincerely thought that they were ordinary plants.
Speaking to the crowd that gathered around the suspects homestead, Cheshire said that the police will not rest until they find the suspect, arrest him and charge him with 2 crimes; planting bhang and illegally possessing police uniforms.
"I am so thankful to the citizen who reported the case to the authorities; it is a wise action which is assisting in the fight against drug dealing and drug abuse in Matungulu," added Mr Njiiri.
