Kangundo Sub-County People living With Disability (PWD) representative David Kilonzo has urged the society not to hide physically challenged people.
Speaking on Friday in Matungulu, Kioko said some families are still hiding people living with disabilities.
He further encouraged people living with disability to register with hospitals to get identification cards.
The registration is aimed at identifying the people with disabilities with the intention of helping them access benefits to better their lives.
“We should accept ourselves and register with Kangundo Level-4 hospital so that we can get cards that will make us be identified even in the national government and be considered in the funds allocated for disabled,” said Kilonzo.
Kilonzo further said the registration will also enable the county government be aware of their existence and consider them when employing.
Kilonzo condemned the sub-county human resource manager, Evelyn Kavuu, where he accused her of being biased. stating that she was biased to the people with disabilities as she doesn’t consider them in favourable job opportunities.
“The County should not neglect people with disabilities during employment process,” says Kilonzo.
Most employers have been accused of shunning people living with disabilities.
