Matungulu sub-county residents have expressed concern over a dam located in Kyanzavi area asking for its expansion.
The dam is the largest in the sub-county serving most parts with water.
Speaking to some residents on March 22, 2016, they said that the dam is running out of water, and therefore, needs to be expanded in order to solve the water crisis, once and for all.
According to Peter Muli, a resident who is a farmer and relies on water from the dam to irrigate his vegetables, he is afraid he could incurring losses if the dam runs dry.
"I will really be affected if the dam runs completely dry as I rely on water from the dam to irrigate my vegetables, I therefore, call upon the ministry of water in the county government of Machakos to listen to our grievances and take action," said Muli.
Another resident John Mutuku living a few kilometres from the dam expressed his worries saying that he uses the water from the dam to water his cattle.
They have also called for the fencing of the dam.
