Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has told Deputy President William Ruto that the Mau forest eviction issue will come to haunt him just the same way it did to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Rutto said that the deputy president is handling the Mau issue in a more casual manner and told him that the cries of the Mau evictees will not go unanswered.
Speaking on Monday at Kuresoi South constituency, the former Council of Governors' chairman alleged that the deputy president is fully behind the ongoing Mau evictions and called on him to be humane.
“Raila played a lot of politics with the Mau issue and that alone cost him the presidency and I want to tell the deputy president that what befell Raila in 2013 is waiting for him in 2017,” the Bomet governor said.
He added: “He might think that he has the powers now and he can do whatever he likes but time will come when he will pay for all these atrocities. The people who are being evicted from the Mau forest are bleeding with pain and they are just waiting for the day they will square out with the DP.”
Ruto called on the deputy president to listen to the pleas of his people.
