The Mwala Mau Mau Association members said that the sub-county residents are forced to travel long distances to access a Court with the nearest being Machakos Courts and Kithimani Courts.

Addressing the press in Bishop Ndingi Location, the association Chairman John Kiiti said that lack of a a Law Court to deal with criminal cases in the region was a great problem to the residents as it compromised getting solutions for such.

“We urgently need a Court in Mwala since it is hard for mostly families who have to follow a proceeding or hearing of a case in Machakos Courts which is more than 50km from Mwala,” said Kiiti.

Chairman Kiiti however cited that in past years there was a Court in existence in Mwala town, but was closed due to lack of a Magistrate.

“We urge the Judges Association in our county to allocate a judge in Mwala to revive the Mwala Law Courts. The buildings that were used previously are still in existence, so it will not be a hard task to re-establish a Court here in Mwala,” added Kiiti.

Currently, residents of Mwala Constituency in Masii and Wamunyu are forced to seek legal help from Machakos Courts while those from Mumbuni and Kabaa Locations file their cases in Kithimani Law Courts.

Last week Machakos Judges Association considered Wamunyu Location and the surrounding areas residents’ plea to establish a Law Court in the Location.
