Police officers who have stayed for long at the Mau-Narok police station in Njoro sub-county will be transferred, sub-county deputy commissioner Mohammed Noor has said.
Speaking Friday at Bondeni estate in Mau-Narok, Noor said the increase in crime rates in the area is directly to be blamed on what he termed as ‘laxity’ among officers who he said have served in the area for more than five years.
Noor said that he has already written to the Nakuru County commissioner, requesting to get in touch with the National Police Service Commission about the replacement of officers at the station.
“I agree with your leaders that we need to get new officers at the Mau-Narok police station because some of them have overstayed there and they have become reluctant in dealing with criminals. I have requested our county commissioner to help us with that issue,” said Noor.
Njoro MP Joseph Kiuna, who was with the commissioner, echoed the sentiments, saying that area residents were tired of complaining about crime.
“We have been calling for the transfer of these officers and we will not stop until we get new officers here,” said Kiuna
