A Mavoko-based cheap building materials maker is set to start production in March 2018. 

According to Trade, Industry and Cooperative secretary Adan Mohamed, modern building technology material factory and supermarket the firm is working around the clock to comply with the government push for the reduction in the cost of housing by 40 per cent. 

Speaking on Thursday during his visit to the China Wuyi Construction Company complex in Athi River, Machakos said the firm has made much progress it regard to operations.

The complex, which will be located on 23,850 metres square, is expected to deal with pre-cast components of construction upon completion. Mohamed said that the cheap materials will reduce construction costs by over 30 percent. 

He also said that it improves quality, cut down on labor and improve efficiency.

“With this technology, cases of sub-standard materials that bring about sub-standard buildings will be a thing of the past. 

People wishing to construct houses will only need to come here with their specifications and get everything from here,” he said, as quoted by Daily Nation. 

At the start, the firm will be producing columns, staircases, and slabs before unveiling household furnishings.
