Mavoko District Officer (DO) David Teguewa has urged men in the sub-county to man up and take their responsibility.
Teguewa said several men in the county have been kept by women, ‘sugar mummies.’
"I have received several reports that a number of men in this region are taken care of by 'sugar mummies'," said Teguewa.
Teguewa, who spoke at a community baraza in Embakasi Estate on Saturday, said most men have failed in carrying out their duties.
"Men are not supposed to depend on women for their livelihoods. Even the word of God states that men are supposed to be providers," said Teguewa.
The DO said that it is impossible for women to effectively provide basic needs to their husbands and their children.
“I am urging men to come out from their comfort zones and engage in constructive activities so that they stop depending on others,” said Teguewa.
He noted that many men have been turned into househelps where they are left in the house taking care of their children.
