Mavoko MP Patrick Makau's win does not reflect the will of the people, three of six candidates who contested for seat have said.

The trio has vowed to seek legal intervention over the matter following their loss in the just concluded general elections.

ODM’s Michael Mutuku, Philip Kilonzo of Maendeleo Chap Chap parties and Kalembe Ndile of Jubilee have said that they will file a case to challenge the outcome of the elections.

The three candidates argue that Makau did not emerge the winner through free and fair elections.  According to Ndile, there was violence in Mavoko, which is likely to have affected the outcome of the general elections.

“We must seek justice in court. There was violence in Mavoko during the entire campaign period. There is no single day I held a rally in the constituency without being attacked by Makau’s goons,” Ndile said.

On his part, Mutuku said that Makau is behind the attack he suffered before the general elections, adding that it was aimed at frustrating him.

“It is also time to pursue a robbery with violence case which I reported at the Athi River Police Station after Makau’s handlers, well known to me, attacked, beat and robbed me,” Mutuku said.
