Mavoko MP Patrick Makau has criticized Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua for 'neglecting' his duties as a governor.
Makau said Mutua has embarked on 2022 presidential campaigns at the expense of delivering services to Machakos residents.
Addressing the public in Athi River town on Tuesday, Makau said it is wrong for the Maendeleo Chap Chap governor to engage in early 2022 campaigns when he should be discharging services to the locals.
"It is disappointing that Governor Mutua is going round the country campaigning for 2022 when Machakos people are in need of crucial services," Makau said.
Makau said Mutua's development record is not satisfactory, adding that locals erred in re-electing him.
He claimed that the governor has been engaging in publicity stunts to gain fame when in real sense he is a poor performer.
Makau asked Mutua to halt his 2022 campaigns and settle down to work.
He said residents are suffering as a result of poor drainage and roads as rains continue to wreak havoc in the county.
Governor Mutua has been under criticism over poor drainage and pathetic roads some parts of the county.
Mutua on Saturday said his presidential bid is unstoppable.
The Maendelo Chap Chap leader said he has the qualities to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
