Mavoko Sub County residents of have been urged to cooperate with security agents and embrace the ‘Nyumba Kumi Initiative’ to avert insecurity in the region.

Sub county Deputy County Commissioner, Makori Kodeck, said the initiative would not only enhance security in the region but also ensure a responsible community.

“Nyumba Kumi Initiative is not only meant to improve security but also promotes unity among residents and ensure that the community is wholesomely responsible," said Kodeck.

He added that the initiative could help in identifying vulnerable members of the society for socio-economic support assistance.

Kodeck called on members of the public to be cautious and report to relevant authorities parents or children caretakers who had kept children in homes instead of taking them to school in spite of the free primary education.

The administrator also cautioned those who hid criminals within their midst for reasons of being friends or relatives of risking to face wrath of the law.

He said the criminals living in the region should be exposed to police or his office for arrest arguing that law enforcement agents, were meant to correct criminals to enable them contribute to nation building when they returned to the community.

 Kodeck made the remarks at a security meeting in Athi River town on Wednesday where he was joined by security officials from the sub county.
