Students from Mavoko constituency will reap huge benefits from Athi river mining cement company as the company has rolled out programs to help the poor students to complete their education.
The company, which was started in 1974, started manufacturing cement in 1986.
Through their Rhino Foundation, the company offers scholarships to bright students who don't have parents.
"We also support bright needy students who take engineering courses at the university level," said Peter Ndanga, the plant human resource manager while addressing students from Sunrise high school.
Apart from offering scholarship programs, the company also support learning in various schools in Mavoko.
The company has installed computers in schools. Some of the schools which have benefited from Athi river mining company include Mavoko secondary school.
"In Mavoko secondary school, the company constructed a sewer system at a cost of Sh.870,000," he (Peter Ndanga) said.
He is also the chairman of the Mavoko secondary school.
