He said that majority of those who apply for the funds are women groups.

Ndimo said they will roll out a new campaign to encourage more youth groups to apply for the funds which he said most of it was still lying in his office uncollected.

The officer spoke to press at his office in Athi River on Wednesday during annual sports events where he donated balls and a trophy to three winning teams.

He called on the youth from the region to change their attitudes and apply for the funds arguing they were meant to improve their livelihoods.

Ndimo cautioned the youth to desist from relying on white collar jobs which wasted lots of their precious time.

"Get the money, start businesses and move on with your lives," said Ndimo.

The officer advised the youth to focus on being self employed and if possible become employers so as to help them improve their own financial status and grow the subcounty's economy.
