Youths from Muthwani Ward in Mavoko, Machakos County have been neglected, says area MCA George King'ori.

Speaking during a football match between Ngelani and Ivoviani youths on Sunday, King’ori said the Machakos County leadership had sidelined the youths with a perception that the ward was inaccessible.

“Residents from Muthwani Ward have been forgotten for long, the Ministry of Youths and Gender in Machakos County said the ward is far, I want to change that perception," Said King'ori.

King’ori said the youths’ have talents that need to be tapped and nurtured at both local and national levels.

He said his office was committed to ensure the ward forms a strong team, Muthwani Football Club, to represent the Kamba Community at the national level.“

"It's a new dawn for the community, we are in the process of forming Muthwani Football Club to represent the community at the national level,” King’ori said.

King’ori said the club will be officially unveiled in December, 2018.

He said that was a strategy of uniting the community through sports in a bid to ensure national cohesion and integration.

King'ori disclosed that he will present at the Machakos County Assembly an Inter World Competition Bill to promote talents in the county.

He said he will organize games and workshops to identify and train youths with various talents in Muthwani.

King'ori said idleness makes youths engage in crime, drugs and substance abuse.

He urged them to join or form groups for easier support.

“We will use the initiative to sensitize youths against drugs and substance abuse in a bid of eliminating crime, I have involved the youth in various projects,” King’ori added.
