Mavoko sub-county deputy commissioner Makori Kodeck has urged youths to support peace and security campaigns taking place in the area.

Speaking from his office on Wednesday, Kodeck said that the sub-county administration has initiated campaigns to sensitise residents on peace.

The deputy commissioner said that they are determined to promote unity among residents in Mavoko.

“The sub-county government is currently spearheading various programmes among them door to door campaigns to sensitise residents on peace and security,” said the deputy commissioner.

He stated that for government activities to run effectively and development to be realised, the sub-county must remain united.

Kodeck added that they are working with local leaders including ward representatives on peace and security projects.

“We have invited MCAs and MPs to be part of our campaigns which are aimed at uniting the people,” he said.

Kodeck urged politicians to be on the frontline of preaching peaceful messages especially in their campaigns.

Meanwhile, the deputy county commissioner has cautioned area youths against engaging in criminal activities.

The official decried high number of area youths allegedly engaging in crime, saying that the trend is worrying and that it threatens the stability and development of the sub-county.

The deputy commissioner intimated that several cases of youths caught in crime have been reported in the sub-county.

“I urge Mavoko youths to shun crime and instead work with us towards promoting development,” he said.
