Residents of Mavoloni, Yatta Sub-County, have called upon Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi, to build a bridge across River Muti, as earlier promised.
Speaking on Monday, the residents, led by Fidelis Muoki, a driver, said the move will ease transportation in the area.
The residents said they have been experiencing difficulties in crossing the river since the onset of the El Nino rains, and are sometimes forced to abort their journeys.
They called upon the MP to act fast before the situation gets out of hand.
The residents also said the situation had affected the transport sector because many vehicles avoid crossing the river and are thus forced to use longer routes.
“It is hard for vehicles to cross the over flowing river for fear of being swept away. Residents have now resolved to using boats,” said Muoki.
Efforts to reach the MP for comment bore no fruits as his phone went answered.
