In a letter to Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, a resident, Gerald Dibogo has asked the anti-graft body to investigate the lawmaker and Homa Bay county Chief Executive in-charge of Lands Consolata Yambo.

However, Mbadi has refuted the claims saying they did not deliberately influence the decision for the boreholes to be sunk in the said area as geological survey was done before the county government settled on the location.

"These are busy bodies who lack something to pursue in their lives. I don't see anything warranting investigations if my family agrees to offer land freely for construction of a project that helps our people," Mbadi told the Star.

According to the legislator, the issue of the borehole is used by his political opponents who want to sabotage his rising political career.

He said he is a clean politician who has never taken bribes from anyone hence the only way to dim his political career is by mudslinging, a ploy he said would backfire.

The second-term MP was also quick to defend himself from the accusations that he is using his party position to influence the county's gubernatorial race.

Mbadi has publicly declared support for Homa Bay governor Cyprian Awiti.

However, he says he will support whoever wins the ODM party's ticket.
