Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chairman John Mbadi has refuted claims that there are political differences between him and Rarieda Member of Parliament Fred Gumbo.
Speaking during an interview in a local radio station in Kisumu on Thursday, Mbadi said besides the fact they are both members of the opposition outfit, they had nothing to fight over.
The ODM chairman said the claims are a plot by enemies of the party to portray disgruntlement among officials of the opposition outfit.
Mr Mbadi acknowledged however the MP was not happy about his recent visit to Siaya where he (Gumbo) was not informed.
Mbadi however said he sent a text to Gumbo notifying him that he had been invited to grace a state of the county address in Siaya organised by Governor Cornel Rasanga.
“I think my friend Gumbo was not happy about my going to Siaya in the event organised by Rasanga,” he said.
“Interests are high over who will become the governor come 2017. And there are factions. I do not know if my brother is aligned to any. But attending such as the party chairman may be mistaken to mean that ODM is endorsing a candidate,” argued Mbadi.
“However, I wish to state that I am free to go anywhere including Siaya county regardless of such claims. As regards to who will be the governor come the general elections, I do not know who that will be but I know who will not win,” added Mbadi.
Earlier, Gumbo had apologised to the party chairman saying they would better let go of the past and focus of strengthening the party going forward.
