ODM chair John Mbadi has highlighted the agenda of the party’s National Governing Council meeting to be held in Nairobi on Friday.
Addressing the media at Orange House, Mbadi said that the party will discuss three key areas that are vital in the stability of the party.“We will seek to address three key areas including reviewing the performance of the party in the August 8 election, this being the first NGC meeting since the election, strengthen the party and fill vacant positions,” said Mbadi on Thursday.The ODM chair further stated that the party will seek to fill positions at both the national and county levels to ensure seamless leadership on all fronts.“We will fill positions up to the lowest level of management at the grassroots. We will have discussions on how to revamp the party and make it more competitive,” he said.In her address, ODM Secretary General Agnes Zani said ODM has structures at all levels, a key pillar of its stability.“We have structures from national to grassroots, from counties to branches and sub-branches. We want to look at various positions and situations and strengthen county coordinating teams," she said.Zani further stated that ODM is very strong and is keen on bringing all members on board in the push for reforms in the country.She said all decisions made by the party go through the laid out processes and procedures to make them as inclusive as possible.The NGC meeting comes at a time when wrangles have rocked NASA, a coalition that brings together ODM, Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper, Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC and Moses Wetangula’s Ford Kenya over leadership positions in parliament.ODM has 76 members in the National Assembly and 20 in the Senate. Wiper Party has 23 members in the National Assembly and three in the Senate, while ANC has 14 members in the National Assembly and one in the Senate.
