At a time when pressure is mounting on Cord co-principals to turn the coalition into a political outfit in readiness for the 2017 poll, a section of ODM MPs have expressed dissatisfaction over the proposal saying doing so will disintegrate the coalition.
According to ODM chairman John Mbadi, the current support that the coalition is enjoying is drawn from the strength of its affiliate parties.
He added it will only be wiser to leave the parties independent since they are given room to strengthen themselves.
Speaking to the Star, the Suba MP said should Cord parties merge, the coalition may disintegrate and therefore affect the outcome of the 2017 elections for the coalition.
"Political parties need to grow as institutions. We don't want to see after every election year people coming up with new political parties after they disagree on internal and basic issues," Mbadi said.
This comes barely a day after Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka suggested that the coalition's affiliate parties should break up and form a single political party, a suggestion that the coalition leader Raila Odinga seems to embrace.
