Due to the rising number of children sitting for KCPE, the four schools in Kibera have become too congested and cannot accommodate students.
The area MP, Ken Okoth, therefore, decided to build more public schools in the area.
One of the schools is Mbagathi High school. The school welcomed its first students on 29 February, 2016. The first 15 boys and girls were admitted to the school and will start from form one.
The school is still admitting more students who are yet to join secondary school or who want to transfer to join it.
The opening of the school has made history in Kibera since some people doubted the school would open.
Hosea Musa said the opening of the school challenged him since he did not expect it will be completed that quickly. He said the move will help students get quality education because they are not as congested as those in other schools in the area.
Rita Kyuli said the MP had done a good job since he has shown how he not only values education but values the slum child education.
