Visiting Congolese singer Mbilia Bel lived up to the billing after making a thrilling performance in Nairobi city during the first show of her Kenyan tour on Friday evening.
The evening coincided with celebrating the 57th Congolese Independence Day anniversary as Kenyan Congolese music followers converged to bond at Nairobi’s Meladen Club and Restaurant.
Mbilia took the stage some time before 11 pm with her Yamba Ngai ballad before she followed it up by Nadina that saw many of the fans join her to sing along.
She last performed in Kenya some 10 years ago and this was a chance for her to participate in a “peace caravan” through songs especially in the current political campaigns.
Mbilia urged fans to encourage peace and brotherhood in the country.
The highlight of her show was her ever-popular Nakei Nairobi hit where she time and again engaged fans to sing along in the nearly two-and-a-half hour performance.
