Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo has criticized President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto for deceiving Kenyan parents.
The legislature said that Jubilee lied to Kenyans after giving empty promises about school fees.
Speaking at Safari Hall in Bamburi on Friday, Mbogo wondered how a parent being asked to pay Sh17, 000 for day secondary schools have benefited from the promised free secondary education.
“They should have said they only waived tuition fees. All other things are paid for,” Mbogo said as quoted by the Star.
The legislature issued bursaries worth Sh500, 000 to 100 students courtesy of Jaffer Foundation. Beneficiaries were from seven wards in the Kisauni Constituency.
Mbogo faulted the president for not keeping his campaign pledges. According to him, good leaders do not lie.
“Uhuru should not have made false promises. Many voted for him because of that promise. Nothing has changed. Everything is the same,” he complained.
He also lauded Kwale governor Salim Mvurya for winning a second gubernatorial term in a NASA stronghold on a Jubilee ticket.
He attributed Mvurya’s success to honoring his education pledge.
