Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo on Friday suspended the opening of a newly built Kashani secondary school at Bamburi ward in Kisauni constituency over what he termed as a poor construction of the school.
Mbogo who visited the school and held a meeting with the primary wing headteacher Florence Mwamue and the School Board of Governors Chair Cosmas Kalama said that the construction was substandard and could pose dangers to students.
He said that the toilets were not well built and could pose a great danger if the school was opened and students registered.
“Not only are we worried about the state of the ablution block, but the whole construction of the classrooms, an inspection must be done before the school is opened early January” added Mbogo.
The new Kashani was scheduled to be opened on the 25th of October this year though Mbogo halted the whole process until he was assured of the safety of the students to be registered in the school.
“The doors of the classrooms of the two streams and already worn out as they were made of plain wood, pupils cannot learn in such a substandard school, we are their leaders and we should ensure they are very safe while at school” he noted.
He ordered the file from the previous CDF fund manager under his predecessor Rashid Bedzimba so that we know the amount spent and how much will be required for the proper reconstruction of the school.
Mbogo said that he will officially invite the National Construction Authority, the County public works officials and the National Environment Management Authority NEMA to carry out their independent inspection before they issue a fully reports as well as their recommendations.
He assured the teachers and parents that the tow stream form one to form four mixed day school will be constructed to a standard and ensure earners conduct their activities in a conducive environment.
