Kisauni MP hopeful Ali Mbogo has said that he will floor incumbent Rashid Bedzimba in the August General polls because of his commitment to transform the education sector.
Mbogo, a prominent businessman, has pledged to allocate more funds to the education sector if he ascends to power.
He claimed that Bedzimba has done little to change the academic performance of the constituency since taking over leadership in 2013.
Speaking at Baraka Voroni Primary School in Mwakirunge on Wednesday where he donated Sh150,000 books, Mbogo said time has come to change the leadership of Kisauni.
He also took a swipe at Bezimba for not pushing for the establishment of more institutions of higher learning in Kisauni, arguing that there is only one polytechnic in the constituency.
“This is the biggest constituency in Mombasa, yet it has only one polytechnic, which does not receive the support it should,” Mbogo said.
The MP hopeful also noted that the poor education standard in the area is to blame for increased cases of insecurity in the area.
Through his slogan, Elimu Kwanza, Mbogo has been urging residents to rally behind him to transform their lives.
“We are focused on ensuring our children are well educated by improving the existing educational facilities and coming up with well-built, modern schools,” he added.
