Mombasa County Women Representative Mishi Mboko has asked the National Treasury to allocate more funds to the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) in the next financial year.
In the 2016/2017 financial year, the national government had allocated Sh2.3billion to serve the 47 counties.
Speaking on Monday at the Maugunja Primary School in Kisauni Sub-County where she presided over the distribution of sanitary towels, Mboko said the NGAAF is not well funded compared to the Constituency Development Fund(CDF).
"As things stand now, the National Government Affirmative Action Fund is underfunded as compared to the CDF," said Mboko.
Meanwhile, the Mombasa legislator challenged the students to excel in their academics and uphold high standards of discipline.
In a similar exercise at Mtopanga Primary School also in Kisauni, Mboko announced the launch of a programme to distribute sanitary towels to all female students in the county.
