Likoni MP aspirant Mishi Mboko has promised to push for women, youth and Persons with Disability (PWD) interests in the National Assembly if elected MP in the August 8 polls.Speaking to supporters after clinching the ODM ticket to contest for the Likoni seat on Sunday, Mboko said her agenda now will be to fight for the interests of marginalized groups if elected in August.Mboko said the rights and interests of women, youth and disabled persons have been neglected and ignored for a long time.“My focus and agenda will be to push for laws and policies that will empower marginalized groups in Likoni and across Coast region if elected in August,” said Mboko as quoted by the Standard.Mboko added that she will fight for women exclusivity in government and leadership positions.The aspirant said its sad that women are still being discriminated upon when it comes to leadership and inclusivity in government.“I will be on the front line agitating for equal women representation in government and other areas,” she said.On unemployment, the Mombasa Woman Representative pledged to push for laws that will guarantee young people jobs, adding that thousands of educated youths in Mombasa are battling with unemployment.“Unemployment is a major disease that continues to destroy our youthful generation but I will devise ways of tackling the problem if elected,” she said.Mboko also pledged to empower person’s living with disabilities and push for their involvement in leadership and government.She further urged her supporters to remain peaceful and shun politicians who might want to lure them into violence.The Women Rep garnered 5,935 votes against her rival Hamisi Domoko's 3,274.
