A section of Coast women backing the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta has threatened to take to the streets to protest against ODM MPs Mishi Mboko and Aisha Jumwa for allegedly ‘disrespecting’ former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar. The women group dubbed ‘Warembo na Uhuru’ on Sunday said Mboko and Jumwa are a shame to women in the Mijikenda community, adding that they will stage demos against them in all the six Coast counties.Led by former Senator Emma Mbura, the women said they will not sit and watch as one of their leaders is disrespected.Speaking during a NASA rally at Mama Ngina grounds in Mombasa on Sunday, Mboko and Jumwa hit out at Omar for defecting from Wiper to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party. The two said Omar’s defection to Jubilee is inconsequential, adding that he is not fit to sit at the table of men, the Star has reported.“He should come to us for lessons on gossip,” they said, as quoted by the daily.Warembo na Uhuru have however criticised the two, arguing they are bitter after losing Omar to their opponent ahead of the repeat presidential polls.“We understand it is hurting to lose one of your strongest soldiers. But they must take defeat gracefully as women,” said Mbura.“They have disrespected women across the Coast by abusing someone who is a father, a son and a husband to a woman from this region,” said Warda Ahmed, Warembo na Uhuru founder.Mbura has urged Coast leaders to stop insulting each other and instead engage in development matters.
