Likoni MP Mishi Mboko has lauded police in Mombasa for their efforts in fighting insecurity in the coastal city.
This comes after police in the county on Thursday morning arrested 119 people suspected to be members of the notorious Wakali Kwanza, Watalia and Wajuku wa Bibi criminal gangs.Speaking on Thursday at Shika Adabu area during a forum with community members, the MP praised the security agencies for their efforts in bringing sanity in Likoni.Ms Mboko said Likoni has, in the past few months, been hit by a wave of criminal incidents involving youth gangs.“I want to thank the police for their effort in fighting crime in Likoni. I, however, urge the security officers not to relent in their crackdown against the gangsters,” she said. The MP urged parents in the county to take their parental responsibilities more seriously as more children in the county are now engaging in criminal activities.“Parents have failed to guide their children and criminal gangs lure them into their groups. I challenge parents to take responsibility for their children to prevent them from being recruited into criminal gangs,” added Ms Mboko. The MP further urged the residents to cooperate with the security agencies in the fight against criminals in the area.
