Mombasa Women Representative Mishi Mboko has come out to explain why she opted to vie for the Likoni Parliamentary seat during the August 8 polls.

Mboko said as a constituency MP, she would be able to get money, through the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), and focus on raising the standards of living of residents.“Our women and youth need opportunities which I will bring to them through the funds allocated to us by the government. I am closely working with the county leadership and it is through this good relationship that I will manage to provide for my people,” said Mboko in an interview with the Nation.Mboko is set to face tough competition from her male counterparts including the incumbent, MP Masoud Mwahima.The outspoken lawmaker, however, said she is ready for the battle. “Politics is all about competition and I have all it takes to fight it out for the seat and, ultimately, the people have the final say and they know who their true representatives are,’’ she said. Mboko clinched the ODM ticket after defeating her sole opponent Hamisi Domoko in the primaries.The businessman garnered 3,294 votes against Mboko’s 5,935 votes.
