Addressing county business community at Rift Valley Sports Club on Saturday, Mbugua said he is counting on the support of businessmen to promote development.

Governor Mbugua noted that the business community has a great role to play in the realisation of socio-economic development.

“Let us work together and promote our economy, as businessmen you control and contribute a lot on the county development,” said Mbugua.

Mbugua assured the businessmen of the county government's support in terms of security, issuing of licenses and other documents needed for operation.

He said the county government has put in place measures to ensure good relations with investors.

Speaking at the same forum, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce chairman Kiprono Kittony urged county governments to seek investments from local and foreign investors.

He said that depending on national government support will not help in achieving development.

“County governments must think beyond the money being given by the national government and instead seek investors to fund some of their projects,” he said.

Kittony further urged counties to put in place right strategies that will market them as business and development hubs.
