Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has appealed for religious tolerance as we head to the 2017 poll.
Speaking on Wednesday at Afraha Stadium when he joined Muslims to mark the end of holy month of Ramadhan, Mbugua clad in Muslim atire said there is need for all religions to have respect as it is guaranteed in the constitution.
He noted that as the nation heads for general elections 2017 the religious leaders have a great role to preach peace and shape the society.
"We all have a responsibility as leaders to enhance peace as we head to the elections in 2017,"said Mbugua.
He called upon the Muslim fraternity to pray for this nation adding that prayers are key in fostering peace and tranquility.
Muslims across the nation on Wednesday converged to mark the end of holy month of Ramadhan.
The month is characterized with prayers and fasting as well as assisting the needy by the Muslim fraternity.
