Speaking on Thursday when he officially opened the long distance and allied workers union annual workshop in Nakuru, Mbugua told the truck drivers that his government has put measures in place to ensure that security is maintained in areas where they park.

“In areas like Naivasha, Salgaa, MaiMahiu, Pipeline and Gilgil, we have beefed up security and even installed flood lights so that your own security and that of your trucks can be assured,” said Mbugua.

Nakuru County Chief Health Officer Samuel Mwaura said that the county will in the next financial year procure ambulances to be stationed along the busy Nairobi-Nakuru-Eldoret highway to deal with emergency cases and accidents.

“Soon we will get ambulances to help us in dealing with cases of emergency along this highway especially during the night when most trucks are making their journey,” he said.
