A fight between two leaders in Nakuru County may not end anytime soon if indications from the leaders at different media outlets are something to go by.

On Wednesday last week, Nakuru East MP David Gikaria was joined by his supporters in a demonstration against what they called poor leadership by the county government. This was seen as an attack on Governor Kinuthia Mbugua’s administration. Mbugua, on the other hand, lashed out at Gikaria on Monday as a leader who was seeking attention through the media.

Gikaria has been for a long time criticised Mbugua’s leadership accusing him of only rewarding his close political associates.

Their rivalry became evident a month ago during the illicit brew fight after Mbugua came out accusing Gikaria of politicising the whole process.

“The fight against illicit alcohol is not based on our political affiliations. Let’s join hands to help end this vice in Nakuru,” Kinuthia said then.

He further disagreed with Gikaria’s decision of dumping destroyed illicit brew containers at the KFA Roundabout.

Gikaria is accusing Governor Mbugua of using old systems of administration to run his affairs.

While making public an agreement between his government and Chinese investors at the county headquarters on Monday, Mbugua asked the electorate to consider service delivery while settling for leaders in 2017.

“My work is to work for the people of Nakuru. I cannot waste time on leaders who want to spend time politicking rather than working,” he said.

The investors paid the governor a courtesy visit over the weekend to discuss investment plans which Mbugua says is on the verge of completion.

“We agreed on a number of things, it’s a matter of time before we put pen on paper for the advantage of our county,” he said.

He further urged anybody wishing to invest in the county to come forward and table his plans promising a good working relationship for both local and international investors.
