Nakuru Women Representative Mary Mbugua has fulfilled a promise she made last year, of sponsoring female students who performed well in last year’s KCPE by issuing them with school fees cheques.
Speaking Friday evening at her office when she handed over the cheques to ten students from across the county at her Nakuru office, Mbugua said that her intention was to see the students proceed with their studies all the way to the university.
She said she will personally follow up with the studies of the ten girls who performed excellently in KCPE.
“These ten girls are now my daughters and as I had promised last year we are here today to issue out the sponsorship cheques so that they can join secondary school and I will work with them until they clear university,” said Mbugua.
Mercy Nyokabi, from Subukia, who was one of the beneficiaries, said that girls have agreed to work hard as a way of showing appreciation to the women rep.
“Some of us would have never seen secondary school but we thank God for the support we have received and we will work hard in school because that is the only way we can say thank you to madam Mbugua,” said Nyokabi.
