Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing preparations for the forthcoming Madaraka Day celebrations that will be held in Nakuru.

Speaking after inspecting the ongoing works at the Afraha stadium, Mbugua said he is happy with the progress being spearheaded by the national government. 

He said he is confident the works will be completed in time before the June 1 celebrations which will be presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Mbugua assured that his administration is offering the needed support to ensure the venue is ready for the event.

"As the governor, I am very happy and pleased with the kind of work that is ongoing here at Afraha and I am confident that we are on the right track and on time," said the county boss.

"My government is giving all the support needed to ensure this place is completed in time to host the national event," he added. 

Mbugua was accompanied by the South Rift regional coordinator Wanyama Musiambo, deputy governor Joseph Ruto among other senior county government officials.
