The governor said while the county has a ready labour force mostly youths, other people from within the county should also be awarded contracts to supply locally available materials needed for the construction.

“Our people living in Naivasha and the whole of Nakuru should benefit from this project, and we expect youths to be employed at the construction sites while other people are given contracts to supply locally available materials needed for construction,” he said Thursday in Nakuru town.

SGR construction is Chinese funded to a tune of over Sh17 billion.

It has started in Mombasa passing through Nairobi, Naivasha and ends in Bomet.

Mbugua stated that once construction starts in Naivasha where it passes through, unemployment rate will go down.
