Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has reiterated his commitment to reviving the pyrethrum industry in the county.
Speaking in Mianzini Primary school in Turi Ward, Molo during a funds drive and home coming ceremony for Molo MP Jacob Macharia, Mbugua said that his government will once again give free seeds to pyrethrum and maize farmers with the hope that this year the rains will favour them.
“We gave seedlings worth over Sh60 million to farmers last year but unfortunately the weather was not good. We shall once again provide the seedlings this year,” he said.
Mbugua said he was optimistic that the sector will once again thrive and become an economic booster to Nakuru County.
He further called on MCAs and other leaders to consider extremely poor students when issuing bursaries, adding that his government is committed to ensure that every child gets educated.
He pointed out the need for improved infrastructure in schools, saying that the county government has put up 150 ECDs with the aim of providing conducive learning environment to children at an early age.
At the same time, the county chief said that all leaders in Nakuru County should work together and in solidarity, to push the county agenda on development forward.
Also present during the funds drive were the speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi, Molo MP Jacob Macharia, Njoro MP Joseph Kiuna, Nakuru County women representative Mary Mbugua, Speaker of Nakuru County Assembly Susan Kihika and several MCAs.
Governor Mbugua contributed Sh100,000 in the harambee that is set to give the school a face lift and also to build more classrooms.
