Nakuru governor Kinuthia Mbugua has called on leaders to utilise available resources in their locality to better people's lives.

Speaking in Gilgil on Wednesday while on development projects tour, the governor took issue with leaders who had turned their supporters into a complaining lot ‘always waiting for the government to intervene’.

“Don’t talk too much while you have the capacity of being the game changer, take up the initiative and improve on the conditions of living of the people who voted you into office,” he advised.

According to Mbugua, Nakuru was a hotbed of investments and it took wise leaders and a pushing society to transform the available resources into opportunities.

He rooted for a more inclusive approach of leadership, arguing that allowing the people to be part of all initiatives any leader is involved in will always promote a mutual working environment which in turn translates into a fulfilled society.

“It’s wrong to impose projects on the people because they are the ones on the ground and clearly understand what affects them or hinders their service delivery. Get to them and you will know what they want,” the governor said.

He also reiterated his commitment to dealing with corruption in the county, saying that corrupt leaders were misappropriating development funds, making the people to suffer.

He was speaking after officially commissioning Ngumo Road that is among roads that recently received a face lift in Murindat ward of Gilgil sub county.
