The MP told journalists when he toured the constituency on Friday that the county must put in place programmes to fight unemployment.

He said that empowering the youths through various development projects would curb unemployment.

“Governor Kinuthia Mbugua’s government must come up with more realistic ways of addressing joblessness,” said Gikaria.

The lawmaker lamented that most youths in the county are still languishing in unemployment saying that the county must help address the problem.

He said that though development funds have been set aside for the youths, most of them have no idea on how to apply for them and where to seek advice.

Gikaria said that unemployment will continue to be a problem if young people are not mentored and empowered.

Meanwhile, the MP has lashed out at Governor Mbugua after it emerged that the county is planning to demolish more structures allegedly constructed on road reserves.

The MP said that the county government must consult leaders before embarking on any demolitions.

“We will not allow the county to demolish the only source of livelihood for traders without offering them alternatives,” he emphasized.

The lawmaker also said that the county must come up with policies that will improve the living standards of the people.
