Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has called for investment in the housing sector.

Calling on local and foreign investors in the sector, Mbugua said that the county is facing a shortage of houses.

Speaking at Free Area estate in Nakuru on Sunday, Mbugua said that the rising population has necessitated a need for more houses.

He added that many people seeking to stay and work in the county are finding it hard to get houses.

Mbugua welcomed housing investors promising to give them incentives.

“Nakuru is a fast growing county and the rising population needs more houses which are currently lacking,” he said.

The governor said that he is seeking partnership with some private companies on housing.

He said that his government has set aside funds under the infrastructure docket that will help improve housing.

At the same time, Mbugua said that renovation works on county houses will start soon.

He said that the roads and infrastructure department is working on renovation plan. The governor said his government is committed to improve on housing by eradicating slums.

Mbuguua said that the county has partnered with foreign investors to upgrade slums in Nakuru, Naivasha, Molo, Gilgil and Njoro.

Mbugua  intimated that it is the right of every citizen to have a quality and affordable housing unit.
