The thanksgiving rally at Afraha Stadium presented an opportunity for leaders to express their gratitude as well as their vision going forward.
On his part, Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua used the opportunity to congratulate President Uhuru Kenyatta on being a leader to look up to.
He cited the fact that while the President's case at the ICC collapsed earlier, he stood by his deputy William Ruto and his co-accused journalist Joshua Sang until they were freed before they could celebrate together.
"Mr President you have taught us valuable lessons as leaders. When your case at the ICC ended, you stood by DP William Ruto and Joshua arap Sang. You did not abandon them. This is a gesture we as leaders should embrace. Again, when you came to Njoro, we learnt something from you. We learnt that you value prayer. You have been steadfast in this," Mbugua said.
He lauded the Head of State's emphasis on prayer saying when he ascended to power, he asked for prayers and throughout the ICC issue, he has been asking Kenyans to pray for them.
He highlighted the fact that the very same stadium in 2012 was used to bring together TNA and URP in a coalition that formed the Jubilee government and now it was being used to preach unity and reconciliation.
