Nominated Senator Emma Mbura has thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for mentoring her politically.
Mbura, who is eying the Rabai Parliamentary seat in the next general election, appreciated President Kenyatta for playing an immense role in her career. Mbura said Uhuru raised her from being a local leader to a national leader. “It is out of this belief that you noticed my leadership capacity as a strong community mobilizer and personally took my hand to mentor, mold and build my leadership capacity to national status," read part of the letter she sent to the Head of State.Mbura defected to Alfred Mutua's Maendeleo Chap Chap party citing frustration by a section of leaders in Jubilee.According to The Star, Uhuru asked Mutua to accept Mbura in his party, to ensure she doesn't decamp to the National Super Alliance (NASA) ahead of the August 8, polls.Mbura's defection to Maendeleo Chap Chap has not been considered as a great blow to Uhuru, since the Mutua-led party has assured him of support in the August polls.
Mbura joins the likes of Kilemi Mwiria who joined the movement a few weeks ago as he seeks to unseat Meru Governor Peter Munya.
