Bogichora ward MCA Beuttah Omanga believes former ODM secretary general Ababu Namwamba made the right move to resign from his post to strengthen his political career.
Ababu resigned on Wednesday after months of intrigues within the Orange party in which he complained of being frustrated in the execution of his duties by unnamed people.
But Mr Omanga, a former Nyamira County Majority leader hailed Namwamba’s move as ‘courageous and bold’ a part from slamming top ODM leadership of allegedly treating other party members as outsiders.
“I know some people are condemning Ababu but having been a member of the party for a long time, I think he had a strong point to make despite some calling him a mole,” he said on Thursday.
“It was a bold and courageous move for him because he too has ambitions to be somebody great. Some people within the party treat some of us as outsiders yet we have contributed towards the party’s success in one way of the other. Sometimes it’s good to call it quits when you feel unwanted,” he added.
Omanga also urged party leader Raila Odinga to accommodate views of rebels or risk having the ODM reduced to a community party.
“It’s certainly clear that rebellion is growing daily within the party not because of Raila but because some individuals surrounding him are out to intimidate other party members. Soon the party will lose national support. Ababu can make a future elsewhere without being in ODM,” Omanga said.
