The county government of Uasin Gishu is now accusing Huruma MCA Peter Kiiru Chomba of inciting traders not to occupy the markets built for them in Eldoret town.
Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has said despite the county using millions to build the markets, most of them have remained unused as hawkers prefer remaining on the streets.
Speaking after visiting the wholesale main market in Eldoret town on Monday, Chemno claimed the MCA has been inciting hawkers to ignore county laws for political reasons.
He, however, insisted that the county will continue working towards ensuring no hawker operates in the town's streets.
"We have markets built for hawkers in this town but the MCA always tell them to use the streets so that they can always clash with our enforcement officers and this makes him remain relevant as he will be seen as fighting for their rights," noted Chemno.
"Chomba should accept the fact that his preferred gubernatorial candidate lost and that Mandago is the governor. He needs to allow the county to do its work and also stop inciting traders not to occupy the markets," he added.
The MCA despite being a Jubilee candidate campaigned for former independent gubernatorial candidate Zedekiah Bundotich Kiprop popularly known as Buzeki during the August 8 general elections.
