The Nakuru County Assembly has accused the Labour Committee of receiving handouts inorder to inflate the number of the casual workers in the county.
The committee had earlier been given a task to carry out a headcount on all the casual workers in the county of Nakuru.
Speaking to the press yesterday outside the assembly, Mwangi Waithaka who is the Kabazi MCA said that the committee had already been compromised by Waithanji Mutiti who is the chairman of the Public Service Board.
"We have very credible evidence and facts showing that the committee was taken to Naivasha sub county for a retreat and after the retreat thats when they came up with this abnormal number. We want them to give the actual number that they had earlier counted and not the number that they came up with after the retreat," Waithaka said.
Waithaka went ahead and said that the Assembly Speaker Susan Kihika had ordered that the Labour Committee be investigated.
"Our speaker ordered that the committee be investigated and we want this to be done immediately. It is very bad seeing such a committee which is supposed to provide very useful information that will help fight corruption and malpractices in this county being bribed so that they can serve the self benefit of few greedy individuals. We as leaders should desist from all forms of corruption. I am moving a motion that will see the disbandment of this committee," Waithuki said.
Waithuki went ahead and called upon all the leaders in Nakuru County to be on the forefront when it comes to fighting corruption.
"We are the ones who can give a good example to the general public. We should ensure that we lead by good example and be on the first line when it comes to fighting corruption and nepotism," Waithuki said.
